There are a slew of new and familiar characters to meet (again) in Oracle of Ages, and the brief vignettes drawn in a unique style were really cool to see juxtaposed against the old gameboy style. Overall a really nice change of pace for the franchise.Ĭharacters/Environment: it has to be said that there is a level of polish and excitement with Capcom games. For those who aren't aware, you can 'link' your save and ending password to the Seasons game and vice versa to discover new content, world changes, and progress the greater story of the two games. It gave it a 'season finale' feel, where you got excited to see what happens next when they start back up in season 2. After finishing the story, I felt that it was well tied together while offering a clear, bigger arc that you could come back to when you play seasons.

We are tasked to go between past and present to help the Maku Tree (an adorable Deku Tree) regain her memory through eight dungeons and stop Veran.

Our new villian Veran has possessed Nayru (classic Goddess in person now!) And goes into the past to build a dark tower to the heavens.

Story: Although the Zelda series has never strayed from the cookie cutter formula, it was honestly refreshing to come back to a new take on WHY we are the Hero. So last week I plugged Ages into my GBA and played through to the first ending. I tried emulating them years ago during a vacation but just couldnt connect to them for whatever reason. Despite having complete in box, not for resale, and original seal versions of the Oracle games, I have never finished either Ages or Seasons. I have been a long time fan of the Zelda franchise, going as far as having a significant shrine of memorabilia, figures, pre-order bonuses, and of course original copies of all the games.
